PeakData Launches Value Recovery Services Business Unit
Names CarrieAnne Curtis General Manager
BOULDER, Colo. Jan. 4, 2006 – PeakData, a value-added reseller of enterprise storage solutions, today announced the launch of its Media Services Business Unit to help enterprise storage customers consolidate data, manage media migrations and realize the hidden value in their storage media assets.
CarrieAnne Curtis, a storage industry veteran and expert in media conversion and migration, was named vice president and general manager of the unit. Curtis, previously with Media Management Technology, has built a career around helping enterprise data centers migrate and consolidate information for cost efficiency.
The service offering at PeakData includes migration of data from older, lower capacity, media; certified eradication of data; repurchase/resale of older media; and data consolidation services for cost efficiencies.
“This service offering is a natural extension of the value that PeakData has been offering its customers for some time,” said Mike Holland, senior vice president of business development. “Our business has a particular focus on virtual tape which, by definition, delivers value to the customer through consolidation of data. We are now able to bring customers the cost efficiencies of virtual tape while saving them money in the process of migrating their data,” added Holland.
“In my experience, most large enterprises don’t realize that there can be value in their older media,” said Curtis. “In fact, very often they end up destroying media when what they should be doing is consolidating and eradicating the data. We manage the entire migration process, guarantee the eradication of data from old media and put money back in our customers’ pockets in the process,” said Curtis.
